Hi, my name is Trish Wolton RPC. I help my clients get to where they want to be, at their own pace, and in the safety of a therapeutic relationship. Together we will build the trust necessary for you to explore yourself and what is holding you back from living fully.
I began my professional career at the Kelowna College of Professional Counselling, but as is the case for many counsellors, my journey towards this role began many years prior. As a member of the Canadian Professional Counsellors Association (CPCA), I have experience working with individuals, families and couples who have experienced relationship issues, unhealthy family dynamics, trauma, depression, and anxiety. I also have experience in helping adults, children and their families cope with bullying issues.
If your relationship needs help, I provide a safe space for you and your partner to talk about the issues and to share the hurt. I have completed Level 1 and 2 of the Gottman Method Couples Therapy. The Gottman Method is an approach to couples therapy that includes a thorough assessment of the couple’s relationship, and integrates research-based interventions based on the Sound Relationship House Theory. The goals of Gottman Method Couples Therapy are to disarm conflicting verbal communication; increase intimacy, respect, and affection; remove barriers that create a feeling of stagnancy; and create a heightened sense of empathy and understanding within the context of the relationship.
The struggles of managing the stress in your relationship, family, or daily life can be overwhelming. Together we will work to recognize the patterns and obstacles that are preventing you from being who you want to be. Our goal is to change those patterns, while developing coping skills and a variety of techniques that are right for you. I will teach you how to think, not what to think. I feel that it is vital to discover the “why”. Why you are reacting the way you do, why some things are unmanageable, and why you’re feeling the way you are. When you learn the “why”, you can heal and develop the right coping skills for you and your experiences.
Thank you for taking the time to read a bit about me and I looking forward to connecting with you.
Trish works from our our office located at 503 Comox Rd, Nanaimo.
