Yes! We offer Divorce and Separation Coaching because we have been where you are.
For many of us, when we think of seeing a counsellor we expect they’re only for mental health concerns or relationship issues with an existing partner. However, if you have ever looked for a counsellor, you may notice that many have specific areas of work that they specialise in or are passionate about. These passions or focuses for a counsellor are often a result of some lived experience and this is what brings us to the topic of Divorce Coaching.
We here at Limitless Wellness are seeing an increasing need for Divorce Coaching in our community and in British Columbia. Not all relationships can be healed and there is no shame in that. In fact, recognising when it is time to move on, can be an empowering time of growth in our lives. For those relationships that can not be healed, getting knowledgeable help and emotional support right away can save you many thousands of dollars, prevent years of stress, and dramatically reduce your suffering and that of your loved ones. This point can not be stressed enough. In fact, we would put money on it that if the BC Government funded Divorce Coaching, hundreds of court hours would be freed up for dealing with the kind of decisions the courts were actually designed to settle.
When a relationship ends, emotions are generally extremely high and many experience a sense of total panic and fear about what to do and how to move forward. Without support at this critical time, big mistakes can happen as people panic and head for the courts or family money to fund aggressive lawyers. Though BC has many websites and resources to help with the process of separating, dividing assets, etc. and where needed determining parenting time as well as child support, these guides are merely a band-aid on a much greater problem, that is an underfunded, and over burdened Family Law system in BC.
Though the courts are necessary in some cases and can play a vital rule, more often than not they are used as a weapon or means of control in situations that require compassion and level heads. The court should be the last resort for dealing with family matters and in our experience they can be avoided for most. The court system is not a process we would wish upon anyone for such an emotional and sensitive issue as divorce or parenting matters . Sarah and Trish at Limitless Wellness, have gone through their own divorces and learned the hard way just how horrendous an experience it can be without knowledgeable support out of the gate.
Sarah and Trish have the lived experience as counsellors who have also been in the vulnerable and agonizing experience of navigating a highly complex court system in the hopes of being heard and moving on with their lives. What we have learned, though immensely difficult to go through, has provided us a knowledge that you can not get from a book or a website and experiences that when imparted to others can save them from what we learned the hard way.
So now, we can either hold on to this wealth of knowledge earned in circumstances we wish to forget, or we can use this lived experience and knowledge to help others. It is possible to avoid the courts altogether and if necessary only hire lawyers for the purpose of mediating a final agreement. It is also possible, with the right support, to not lose yourself to stress and fear. Lawyers in BC are being encouraged to actively attempt mediated separations/divorces first and for us as divorce coaches and counsellors we can help because ultimately a separation or divorce without the need for adversarial litigation, is in everyone’s best interest.
If you have found yourself in the throes of a separation or Divorce, we here at Limitless Wellness invite you to take pause, not panic and reach out to us for Divorce/Separation Coaching and counselling.
If you are already working with a lawyer, let us know and we will check if your lawyer is on our list of professionals that earn you a 15% discount on our regular rates. If you are working with us and it comes time to engage a lawyer for mediation, then we can also direct you to one of the lawyers we trust as qualified and empathetic mediators.
Divorce coaching can be done in individual and/or joint sessions, in-person or online and if necessary Sarah or Trish can be hired to attend court with you for support, in the event that court is unavoidable.
We are not lawyers and so we can not give you official legal advice but we can provide a wealth of knowledge, support and guidance around what your legal rights are, how the court works, the process inside and out and all so that you are empowered and able to emerge stronger in yourself as a result. Let’s move forward positively.
